Salon more credible than Townhall

The first place I dial into in the morning is Salon.com. But as you know I spend a fair amount of time perusing Townhall.com. In the last few days Salon has printed some truly outstanding and credible articles. I personally find that the Salon articles deal with facts while the Townhall columnists are more prone to ad hominem, emotional columns. I urge the open minded to take a look at some of these outstanding recent articles. An article today about an abuse of the Patriot Act is factual and thought provoking, while an article yesterday about the use of contractors in Iraq is similarly factual and outstanding.

Conservative too elite for tattoos

I believe that conservatives have just acknowedged their disinterest in the vote from people with tattoos. Not elite enough for them. (Re: Hannity)

I don't mind that conservatives tell political lies

What I do mind is that they say they don't.

The one lie that I find most egregious is - and I forget the actual politically correct line that is inevitably delivered - is that Democrats have embraced or proposed a "policy of defeat." This is, at best, a quarter truth.

What conservatives never mention in the same context is that their own view of "victory" has shifted greatly and keeps on shifting. The latest conservative view has something to do with standing up a government that can defend itself. Conservatives never mention that the original definition of "victory" was to create a non-sectarian, democratic country that would be a shining light in the mideast.

We also hear more talk of a divided Iraq and I just finished reading Hugh's interview with John Burns about "soft partition," in which Hugh has now begun to structure his questions about what could happen over the next five or six years, yet conservatives never really address this change in their own viewpoint, i.e., American participation will be needed for another five or six years at least, and what this means for troop levels and mission. Never bring this all together.

Finally, it's uncontestable that Iraq will become a nation under Sharia law. You never hear conservatives admit to this reality. Victory for America, whatever happens, will include an Iraq under Sharia law. Conservatives seem to believe that denying that reality creates some admirable and superior position between them and Democrats.

If it's political it isn't lying

Are family values children being taught that if you say something that you know is only half or a quarter true, if you spin or distort for the good of conservatism it isn't a lie?

Name the OTHER family value

We all know the ones about sex and marriage. But surely there must be at least one more. Common decency is out, we know that. Humility is out. Consistency is out. Scrupulous honesty is out. Think.....

Think....

If Hillary Had Multiple Sclerosis or Acne....

Would the family values crowd teach their children that conservatives with multiple sclerosis or acne are "brave Americans" while liberals with multiple sclerosis or acne are "phonies?"

The Superior Family Values Crowd

Now we can all see for ourselves the superior values of the family values crowd and their superiority above everyone else.

Apologize to Hillary for mocking her laugh.

The family values crowd may not have a double standard, mayby more like a one point five standard. The family values crowd can be aghast, dismayed and angry when General Petraeus' integrity is besmirched, but are self satisfied and feeling righteous when Hillary's personality is called cold and chilly, her laugh described as insincere and that she is not genuine. What an opportunity for a great lesson to teach their children.

Scratch Common Decency From Family Values

We all know the family values include don't marry someone of your own sex or have an abortion. Common decency toward other people doesn't seem to be part of family values, based on the family values crowd's mocking of Hillary Clinton. I suppose the family values crowd is teaching their children that they practice common decency selectively, deciding who they will be decent to and whom not. Hated liberals or democrats do not deserve common decency, they are teaching their children. They're teaching their children that the practice of common decency is relative and subjective and is not included in an objective moral order.

Family Values Crowd Mocks Hillary

What exactly is the family values crowd teaching their children by mocking Hillary? Do they mock each other within their family? Are they teaching their children that you shouldn't mock your family but it's OK to mock people outside their family? Are they teaching their children that it's OK to mock people who deserve to be mocked?

Desperate Conservatives Make Fun Of Hillary's Laugh & Voice

Which would be laughable in itself if it weren't so desperate. Will we learn next week that Hillary's chin is too pointed; her nose too small; her eyes are beady; her hairline receeds in an unfeminine manner?

Fortunately for conservatives Hillary comes with a lot of body parts so they won't run out of ammunition in the political debates. I can't wait to hear how conservatives characterize Hillary's liver.

Conservative Political Correctness unrecognized

In their runup to the Iran war the neocons are demonizing Ahmadinejad and have unleased a wave of propaganda to  convince the American public that it is politically correct to hate Ahmadinejad. Conservatives are in complete denial that they have their own political correctness.

How Hillary can stop the Iran war by playing the Israel card

It seems certain that the neocons will get their way and Bush will leave Hillary with a war in Iran, as well as Iraq, figuring that she'll be trapped into carrying out the neocon vision.

But Hillary will actually be in a position to stop the war in Iran and bring peace to the mideast for a hundred years. She calls off the American invasion of Iran and simultaneously forces Israel to give back the Golan heights and support the creation of a viable Palestianian state by threatening to immediately cease all foreign aid to Israel through her war-time, imperial presidency powers, bequeathed by Bush.

She then promises to let Iran develop its peaceful nuclear program and secures a pledges from Syria and Iran to cease their support of Hamas and Hezbollah and acknowledges Irans hegemony in the middle-east.

Thus the neocoms do succeed in restructuring power in the middle-east, which they have been salivating to do.

Conservative Elitism: Adoration of the Military

First we have Bush as Emperor. Now we have a puzzling conservative idea that the military, particularly in the person of General Petraeus, with all his medals for valor and being wounded and all, is superior to all the rest of us (excepting Conservatives, of course). So superior that is is traitorous to slime Petraeus. Well, I have news for all of you haters of democracy: in a democracy no one is above sliming. To think otherwise is to be an elite. If the shoe fits, Conservatives, wear it.

Conservatives are cynical, manipulative and dishonest

Well, somebody had to burst your bubble. This is a compilation of some of my rants this week, plus a big extra.

If as Mitch McConnell says campaign contributors seek no favors from the person they give money to what is wrong with money from the chinese, since they ask nor expect any favors, but merely want to support someone of whom they approve. The answer is, McConnelll is lying. Big givers expect to cash in their mark when the senator or representative can do them a favor.

What about conservatives perpetually calling or insinuating that liberals are traitors, appeasers and have chosen a "policy of defeat." This is a cynical assertion and is basically a lie and conservatives know it is a lie.
How about a quid pro quo. Democrats apologize for "Betray Us" and Conservatives apologize for "policy of defeat," "traitors," purposely sabotaging Clinton's presidency and the Swift Boat lies.
